There is no such thing as too much blush. Ok, maybe there is a point of too much blush, but in my opinion, there’s also a point of too little blush.
Truly, blush is the difference between the look of life and death on your face! I never cease to be amazed by the people who come to the counter wanting dark brown bronzer and seem horrified at the thought of adding any touch of color to their face. Brown, brown, brown! Maybe I’m one of THOSE people who’s just so out of touch with what’s in vogue, but no one’s face is completely skin colored and brown. A touch of blush can pretty effortlessly add life, vitality, and a little flirtation to your every day makeup. And it doesn’t even require frequent touch-ups!
This is especially true when using the oh so fancy, Pot Rouge for Cheeks and Lips by Bobbi Brown. She is renowned in the makeup world for her assortment of blush shades and my personal favorite shade is pale pink, though she offers a ton more options from natural to berry and everything in between. This blush is lightweight (a trait I love in all my makeup), and gives great color while still letting your natural skin shine through. I apply it with a foundation brush (be sure to always use synthetic bristles when using liquid/cream based products) and it lasts most, if not all day. I will often touch up late in the evening if I’m going out simply because I like a good bit of color, but most the time it isn’t necessary. The blush worn alone gives a beautiful, bright, fresh face look; and when worn with bronzer, it gives a healthy “I’ve just been out surfing at the beach and had a first kiss” look. It’s a technical term–look it up. 🙂
Blush is always a good idea and is way under-appreciated. The key is finding the right shade and using a light hand until you get as much on as you want. It’s a lot easier to put more on than it is to take it off. Once it’s on, it’s on! So dig deep, put some blush on, and have a little fun with color!
