Silver I can do.

Natural lighting to showcase my natural highlights! πŸ™‚

The time has finally come to embrace the silver hair God and genetics have so graciously given me and to become a Silver Sister! It took some convincing but the itchy swelling lips did it for me. Head sores and grit-your-teeth-it-itches SO BAD I could do; but swelling lips, no way. I’m about two months in of being completely hair dye free. I feel like it looks like more to me but the past two times I colored my hair I was only able to keep the color in about 5 minutes so the silverΒ is pretty much showing through from those times as well. The more it comes in, the more I like it. I’m not even so sure I would color it now if I could. It feels genuine and like I’m getting to know a whole new side of myself.

I have been a little concerned about what hairstyle I’ll be showcasing to look feminine and as my mom says “with it,” but I think I have time to worry about that as my hair grows. I just cut it short again to lessen the distance between grow out and colored hair and simultaneously cut out the rest of my past highlights that were just making my hair look tired. Tune in through the ups and downs, grow out stages, and any other mile markers along the journey. To see someone who has gone completely through the hair transition, is a great blog to read! It’s all about the frustrations of growing out silver hair, styling tips, and pretty much anything else you can imagine related to having silver hair at any age, PLUS she looks beautiful as a Silver Sister and gives the gals like me just getting started hope. πŸ™‚
